Following Directives

Many employees seem to think that when management gives them a direct order that they can just disobey it. Well. The truth of the matter is that no you cannot just disobey it. The only time you can disobey a direct order is if it would threaten your safety or well being. Whether it violates the National Agreement or not, you still must follow the order you are given and then if it violates the National Agreement then you are entitled to file a grievance.

The Elm 666.51 states employees must obey the instructions of their supervisor. If an employee has reason to question the propriety of a supervisor's order, the individual will nevertheless carry out the order and immediately file a protest in writing to the official in charge of the installation, or appeal through official channels.

The M41-112.21 states obey the instructions of your manager.

So no matter how much you and I might not like the ordered given to us we must still follow them and if they violate the National Agreement then we must file a grievance so that we can stop such violations from happening again.
