THOMAS REILLY BRANCH 42, JERSEY CITY LETTER CARRIERS UNION

Happy New Years to all our members in branch 42. There have been many new changes in Jersey City in the past year and not all for the better. For one the splitting up of Bergen Station, A new method of casing for 2 stations, another change of start time and I'm sure the new year will bring many more changes. It is unfortunate that the postal service continues to make changes without getting the input of carriers first after all we are the ones who do the routes but like we are always told it's the postal services route so what can we do but let them screw it up again. Lets not forget that there is only one goal for the postal service and that is how much work they can put out in a day. Bergen North has yet again another station manger we go through station managers like the postal service goes through stamps. But nothing changes new face same mentality. They all come and treat the employees like robots instead as people maybe one day they can figure out that we are not machines. By reading this you may have figured out that I'm not a happy camper but who would be working under the condition we have to work under in Jersey City, at one time in my short 13 year career I used to enjoy coming to work but know I dread even getting out of bed, I just count the years till I can leave this hell hole. The postal service has made a simple thing as delivering mail into rocket science for what they say is to better improve service and keep competitive, well when I last look we are the only people who deliver mail. Now if they want to keep competitive in the parcel part of service then I could understand also with express mail and priority but first class I don't think anyone else delivers it. Maybe they should of put parcels in d.p.s. Well enough of this I just hope that this year can be a better one and maybe management and employees in Jersey City can improve relations, maybe that should be both sides New Year resolution. Remember if anyone has any question or wish to see anything discussed on this site please feel free to write and ask. And please lets start attending union meeting to few people go.

Just to get off the track of postal business a little. I have had many people come up to me and express their interest in the martial arts if not for them then their children. Well my time is to busy to instruct anymore but I will recommend a place to go that is affordable and convenient. I have studied under this man for 10 years and you will not find anyone better qualified and experienced to do the job. Sensi Hoare is a student of the arts for well over 20 years and he runs the school for Don Nagel. The man is excellent with kids and excellent with adults. If you are looking for a way to stay in shape, build self confidence and learn how to defend yourself or your child then this is the place to go. The address is 371 Central Ave. (entrance on the side on Charles St.). Adults class are on Tuesdays, Thursdays at 7:00 P.M. and Saturday from 12 noon till 2. The children class are on Wednesday from 4:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 10 A.M. to 12 noon. The cost for these classes are, children are $20 a month and adults are $30 dollars a month so if your interested drop by and say that Jaime sent you.

I know there are many of us who us computers in this branch but there are many kids out there that can't afford a computer, well I would like to tell you about a program that can help in this matter. The program is called R.O.C.K which stands for Recycle old computer for Kids. They are located in Bloomfield New Jersey and was started by a fireman in Bloomfield. Basically what they do is collect old computers that people want to get rid of and restore them, and then donated them to some kids that might need them for school. In this day and age of technology our children have to keep up, and the only way to that is to have a computer. So if there is anyone in this branch who is thinking about buying a new computer is going to get rid of an old one, then go to this web site and donate it so that some kid a little less fortunate then you can get one.
